Yujin Yaguchi reports that his father, Yorifumi Yaguchi (BD 1965) and recipient of the AMBS Alumni Ministry and Service Award, is fine after the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, although the village where he grew up was devasted. His brother, Yobu Yaguchi (MAPS 1986), lives in Sendai and had to evacuate with his family. They are struggling with lack of water, gas for cooking and gas for driving. Yujin writes, "I strongly think that our focus on the victims of tsunami should not be diverted. There are so many people who have suffered terribly--this is a tragedy of an unimaginable scale, especially in a country that has had one of the best defense systems against earthquakes (indeed, very few buildings collapsed anywhere as a result of the quake) and tsunami."
