Ways to give

The best gift is one that matches your charitable goals with your stewardship and financial goals. You may talk with the seminary staff and your financial advisers as you consider your best giving options. Here are some of the choices available to you.

Gifts by credit card: You can make a gift by credit card in one of three ways:

  • Use our secure Give online page if you are giving in U.S. or Canadian dollars
  • Call the AMBS receptionist to give credit card information by telephone: 1 800 964-AMBS (2627).

Cash gifts provide income tax deductions in the year of the gift, with possible carry-over deductions for up to five more years.

A bequest in which you designate a portion of your estate in your will.

Gifts of marketable securities provide the donor with charitable income tax deductions for the full market value without capital gains taxes within certain limitations.

Gifts of real estate include land, buildings or other real property. A donor may make an outright gift, bypassing capital gains and estate taxes. Or a donor may retain a life interest in the property and still obtain a charitable income tax deductions and estate tax savings.

A life insurance policy, no longer needed by the family or individual, can be given as an irrevocable gift. Annual premiums can be treated as charitable contributions.

Projects to consider for your gift

Scholarships and Financial aid for students: Because we try to keep tuition costs low for students who are preparing for ministry, your gifts to financial aid and scholarships has a big impact. You can make it possible for someone to study at AMBS who otherwise would consider it impossible. Your gift can be designated to financial aid, or you can work with our staff to set up a scholarship in honor of someone.

Chapel renovation: The Chapel of the Sermon on the Mount was built almost 50 years ago. While is it a beautiful space that encourages our worship, it needs to be updated for better energy efficiency and air-conditioned for summer use. We also would welcome main-floor washrooms, especially to help with accessibility.
