Preaching Seminar: Believing Out Loud-Finding your Preaching Voice
|Time:||9:00 AM until 4:00 PM|
|Date:||Monday, January 27, 2014|
|Location:||Room 129 (Wadsworth)|
PRESENTER: Allan Rudy-Froese
Preaching is a physical activity where mind, body, voice and passion are engaged, yet often the preacher prepares the sermon seated on a chair in the silence of the church office. In this way the sermon is treated as though it is an essay, but writing is different than speaking, and reading is different than hearing. Participants will practice "performance criticism" of the Bible and will consider how "performance theory" can be of help in sermon delivery. They will discover much about, and gain new confidence in, their preaching voices. This seminar meets at AMBS November 5-6, 2013 and January 27, 2014 with interaction on-line between sessions.
