AMBS on PBS
"Religion and Ethics Newsweekly," a program of Public Broadcasting System (PBS) recently featured Elkhart County, Indiana, and the ways religious people and church organizations are responding to economic needs.
AMBS President Nelson Kraybill was one of several people interviewed. He was questioned about how the seminary prepares pastors to help people in congregations deal with economic stress.
Others who were interviewed are also connected to AMBS:
- James Nelson Gingerich, physician in Goshen who is medical director of a health care center that serves lower-income residents in its neighborhood. James was Theological Center Guest at AMBS last fall and is the husband of Barbara Nelson Gingerich, managing editor of the Institute of Mennonite Studies.
- Bethany Christian Schools, a Mennonite middle and high school in Goshen, was featured during its annual fund raiser. Allan Dueck, principal and graduate of AMBS was interviewed.
- Church Community Services, an organization of about 50 congregations in Elkhart that responds to needs, also was featured. This organization is headed by Dean Preheim Bartel, AMBS graduate, who was interviewed as well.
