Commencement 2008
Twenty-seven students will graduate from Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary on Saturday, May 24, at a service at College Mennonite Church, Goshen, Ind., beginning at 2:30 p.m.
The commencement address will be presented by Kyle Childress, pastor of Austin Heights Baptist Church in Nacogdoches, Texas, since 1989. He is a frequent contributor to the Christian Century, Christian Reflection, and other journals such as the Biblical Preaching Journal and the Baptist Peacemaker. In addition, he is active in community organization, having served in leadership positions with Habitat for Humanity, the ministerial alliance and the AIDS project in Nacogdoches. He also is active in the Ekklesia Project, a network of Christian groups focused on discipleship, primary allegiance to the Kingdom of God and peace-making. He has a Master of Divinity degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Ky.
Eighteen graduates will receive the Master of Divinity degree; four the Master of Arts: Theological Studies; four the Master of Arts in Christian Formation; and one the Master of Arts: Peace Studies.
Students in the graduating class include two from Canada, 21 from the U.S., two from Australia, one from Indonesia and one from Guatemala, who came to AMBS from Canada. The two from Australia are Mary and Moriah Hurst, mother and daughter.
AMBS is a seminary of Mennonite Church Canada and Mennonite Church USA, preparing pastors and other leaders for the church.
