Vision celebrates 10th birthday
On June 9, 2010, we plan to honor ten years of hard work and good times with Vision. Since 2000 Vision has been published twice a year by AMBS and Canadian Mennonite University to encourage theological reflection by church leaders on the identity, mission, and practices of the church.
Our tenth birthday celebration will be an old-fashioned literary. Those who remember literary societies from some Mennonite communities in the first half of the 1900s remember rollicking good times. Our celebration will feature:
- Music by the Schmaltzentrubers, a trio of tenors
- Ben Ollenburger, professor of Old Testament at AMBS, as emcee
- Vision contributors reading choice excerpts of their work
The evening will begin at 7:30 with the program in the Chapel of the Sermon on the Mount at AMBS, followed by a reception in the courtyard, weather permitting. The Mennonite Cooperative Bookstore on campus will be open for your browsing and, should you be unable to resist, your purchase of back issues of Vision. The Vision editorial council and CMU editor Abe Bergen will be present.
We warmly welcome you to this evening of thanksgiving and joy.
Mary H. Schertz, coeditor, professor of New Testament at Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary
