How to participate
Becoming a participant
The application process is designed to be a collaborative effort between the applicant and a pastoral leader. Either a young person or a pastoral mentor may take the initiative to learn more about !Explore. After being accepted into the program, the pastor and youth will complete a Learning Covenant together, outlining the goals, methods and evaluation techniques for the congregational component of the !Explore experience. We are keenly interested in accepting a group of young people that reflect the diversity of the Mennonite Church in North America.

Applying to !Explore
Deadline for applying for summer 2011: February 18
One group of 15 youth will be invited to participate.
The congregation pays $1,000 to the !Explore program and $500 to the youth as a stipend.
Financial assistance may be available for participants who travel a great distance to AMBS or whose congregations can not afford the participation fee. Contact the !Explore Director, Andy Brubacher Kaethler, for more details.
AMBS pays the youth a stipend of $500 (in addition to the stipend from the congregation).
Application Forms
Each application consists of three forms and two reference forms. The forms are PDF files that can be completed on your computer. Please save them after they are completed and submit them as attachments to email message.
Two options for saving forms:
- Save the empty form to your computer, complete it and save it again after it is filled in.
- Open the form and complete it. Choose the small disk icon just above the form in your browser to save the completed form on your computer.

E-mail confirmations will be sent to the email address entered on the application forms after each form submission. If you don’t receive an e-mail confirmation or you experience difficulties submitting a form, please contact the !Explore office at 574-296-6225.
PDF Reference Form
Each application should ask two people to provide references. Provide these people with the link above so they can complete the form electronically. They can then save it to their computer and submit the form as an attachment by e-mail, or print it out and submit it by mail.
Each complete application packet must include reference forms from two different people and neither should be a family member or close relative.
