Academic services

Advising

Each students admitted to Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary has an assigned faculty adviser. The adviser assists with registration anc course selection. When a student has a question about the plan of study or meeting degree requirements, the adviser and registrar are the first people to get in touch with.

Introductory formation seminar

The Theological Education and Formation Seminar (INT500), offered every fall, is helpful to new students getting oriented to graduate theological education. The course introduces students to the theological and spiritual formation aspects of the AMBS curriculum and education community.

Student Handbook

Academic expectations, registration information, standards for major papers and general course requirements are spelled out in the first section of the Student Handbook. Refer to the Academic information pages for an overview of essential information.

Writing Center

Students who need assistance at any stage of developing a written assignment may use the resources of the Writing Center. Read more in Student services and resources section of the Student Handbook.

Campus communication

AMBS expects all students to monitor what they receive through their AMBS student e-mail accounts. In addition, the weekly newssheet—AMBS Communicator—gives regular updates for students and faculty.

Also Flashboards and bulletin boards are excellent ways to keep up-to-date with what students need to know.

Bookstore

The Mennonite Cooperative Bookstore, located next to the library, is not only a source for textbooks. Browse there for fair-trade coffee and chocolate, AMBS shirts and sweatshirts, supplies and much more.

Library

The AMBS Library holds an unparalleled collection of resources on Mennonite and Anabaptist theology, history and thought. Online resources provided by the library bring materials from around the world to students who are looking for them. In addition, the library is a great place for individual study, and small meeting rooms provide space for collaborative work.

Computers

AMBS provides some desktop personal computers for student use. Most are in the library computing area; several are in the Student Activity Center. Every student also has personal file space on the AMBS servers and a personal student e-mail account. Read more in the Student services and resources section of the Student Handbook.
