Certificate Programs

Several certificate programs at AMBS are designed to provide professionals, congregational leaders and bivocational pastors with a foundation in theological and biblical study, spiritual enrichment and fuller integration of Christian faith in their work and ministry.

A general Certificate in Theological Studies and three specific themed certificates support several kinds of ministry. Each certificate requires 27 credit hours. The general Certificate in Theological Studies could be completed in one year with full-time study, but also may be completed with part-time study over several years. Completing a themed certificate will involve part-time study over several years, because required courses are not typically offered all in the same year. These certificates do not meet the gainful employment criteria set by the U.S. Department of Education.

Certificate in Theological Studies

The Certificate in Theological Studies allows students to select courses for a special interest or ministry. People who seek basic theological training to enhance their participation in their congregation or profession or who desire opportunities for spiritual formation can develop a plan of study tailored to their interests.

Themed Certificates

These certificates give people in different professions a stronger biblical, theological or ethical foundation for their vocations. Specific courses are required to give students the best combination of academic and practical work.

  • Certificate in Christian Spiritual Formation
  • Certificate in Pastoral Theology for Financial Professionals
