Several graduate certificate programs at AMBS are designed to provide professionals, congregational leaders and bivocational pastors with a foundation in theological and biblical study, spiritual enrichment and fuller integration of Christian faith in their work and ministry.
AMBS offers a Graduate Certificate in Theological Studies and two specific themed certificates that support several kinds of ministry. Each certificate requires 27 credit hours. These certificates do not meet the gainful employment criteria set by the U.S. Department of Education.
Students can complete the Graduate Certificate in Theological Studies in one year with full-time study or over several years with part-time study. The certificate can be done fully online or with a combination of online, hybrid and on-campus courses.
The Graduate Certificate allows students to select courses for a special interest or ministry. People who seek basic theological training to enhance their participation in their congregation or profession or who desire opportunities for spiritual formation can develop a plan of study tailored to their interests in consultation with an assigned advisor.
Two themed certificates give people in different professions a stronger biblical, theological and ethical foundation for their vocations. They involve part-time study over several years because required courses are not typically offered all in the same year. Specific courses are required so that students can engage in both academic and practical work.
