State authorization for distance education
Federal and state laws have established requirements that regulate distance (online) education programs offered by postsecondary institutions such as AMBS. Institutions must be approved to offer such education in each state in which students reside. These laws protect students regarding a variety of issues that may occur during their distance studies.
AMBS has been approved by the State of Indiana to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA). NC-SARA is a voluntary, regional approach to state oversight of postsecondary distance education. If an institution is approved by its home state and the state is approved by NC-SARA, then the institution is approved to deliver distance (online) education in all states that have joined this oversight organization.
As a result, AMBS is approved for distance (online) education through NC-SARA. Currently, 49 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia are participating in NC-SARA. (To see a list of participating states, visit nc-sara.org/directory.) AMBS strives to offer high-quality educational offerings to all students, regardless of where they are located
