Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary has named a coordinator and administrative team for the newly formed Kansas Center through which AMBS will offer resources to the area.

Katherine Goerzen, named as AMBS–Kansas Center Coordinator, is an student in the AMBS Master of Divinity program. Until recently she and Peter, her husband, were pastors at Grace Hill Mennonite Church, Whitewater, for seven years. She will work several hours a week to provide on-site support for AMBS offerings and to facilitate communication between the seminary and people in the region.

The administrative team will assist AMBS in determining what kinds of courses and other resources for ministry and theological education will be helpful in the area. They will give counsel to guide decision-making and planning as well as help to strengthen partnerships between AMBS and area agencies and organizations. Team members are:

  • John Murray, pastor of Hesston Mennonite Church, Hesston;
  • Peter Goerzen, campus pastor, Bethel College, North Newton;
  • Jim Ostland, pastor, Journey Mennonite Church, McPherson campus;
  • Kathy Neufeld Dunn, pastor, First Mennonite Church, McPherson;
  • Rebecca Slough, AMBS academic dean;
  • Lois Barrett, AMBS professor of theology and Anabaptist studies and former director of AMBS–Great Plains;
  • Jewel Gingerich Longenecker, AMBS associate dean for leadership education.

In addition, Jocelyn Graber, AMBS development officer, serves in an ex officio role, and Goerzen provides administrative support to the committee.
