Christmas greeting from Sara Wenger Shenk

Published: December 23, 2013

The imperial census forced pregnant Mary and loyal Joseph to travel far from home. After Jesus birth, they are forced again to flee as refugees because of the threat on his life.

It is against this backdrop of frightening displacement that the prophet’s assurance springs to life:

“By the tender mercy of our God, the dawn from on high will break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.”

May we all be guided by the tender mercy of God-with-us into the way of peace. Christmas love to all from AMBS.
