Cultural Hermeneutics CHM610 / B

Instructor: Andy Brubacher Kaethler, PhD

Leaders in a missional church need to be able to read and interpret cultural contexts in which they live and proclaim the gospel message. This course places cultural hermeneutics in context with, but distinct from, biblical and theological hermeneutics. It focuses primarily on late-modern and postmodern Western culture — giving special attention to themes such as consumption, spectacle, and desire — but also includes early church and non-Western perspectives.
