The Epistle to the Romans BIB527 / B

Instructor: Drew Strait, PhD

We will read Paul’s most comprehensive presentation of his gospel, utilizing historical, literary, social-world, and rhetorical-analytical methods. We will seek to discern Paul’s theology and explore ways in which this letter relates to the congregational circumstances in Rome and to Paul’s ongoing missionary agenda. We will also discuss the theological, ethical, and pastoral implications of the message of this letter for the life of the church today. Although this class is an English-based study of Romans, those with knowledge of Greek are encouraged to use it in the course.
