About Steve

As the Assistant Director of Human Resources (HR) and Payroll, Steve updates payroll changes for all employees, helps onboard new employees and keeps abreast of current HR practices as they relate to the AMBS community.

As Program Assistant for the Thriving in Ministry grant, Steve manages records for short courses, provides accounting for faculty and staff presenting through the Invite AMBS program, and helps coordinate the functionality of the Journey program.

For most of his working career, Steve served as a pastor, including spending 14 years in church planting in Germany (both the former East and West). More recently, Steve co-pastored at Goshen (Indiana) City Church of the Brethren for eight years. He also worked at the Elkhart Rise ’n Roll bakery, which he helped establish and manage.

Steve met his wife, Sharon, at Goshen College; they have three adult children who attended Mennonite colleges. The Nortons are members of Walnut Hill Mennonite Church in Goshen.
