As rain poured down on the campus of Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary, students, faculty and staff prayed for God’s blessings with the hymn, “Rain down.” The theme of water accented the early summer drought, followed by welcome rains that helped to welcome in the new school year on August 28.

Worship articipants were invited to let a stream of water from the worship table wash over their hands as a sign of being open to God’s leading and blessing in the new year. The service concluded with several of the seminary community’s children helping to lead the congregation in movements for the hymn “The river is here.”

Thirty-one new students are expected to enroll in classes that begin August 28. This includes six new students at AMBS–Great Plains in central Kansas, and counts all new students whether they are studying full-time or taking only one course. This number of new students is a slight increase over last year. Firm enrollment numbers will be available in two weeks after students make final decisions about their courses.
