ELKHART, Indiana (Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary) — Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary will hold its 2018 commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 6, at 2:30 p.m. at College Mennonite Church, 1900 S. Main St., Goshen, Indiana.
The ceremony will honor 21 graduates who are completing degrees and certificates. Twelve graduates will earn a Master of Divinity degree; five will earn a Master of Arts in Christian Formation; and one will earn a Master of Arts: Peace Studies. Three students will receive a Graduate Certificate in Theological Studies, which represents one year of study.
Palmer Becker of Kitchener, Ontario, a long-time church leader, pastor, missionary, church planter, author and educator, will bring the commencement address. Becker earned a Bachelor of Arts from Goshen (Indiana) College and a Master of Religious Education from Mennonite Biblical Seminary (now Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary) in Elkhart, Indiana; did graduate studies at Regent College in Vancouver, British Columbia; and earned a Doctor of Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California.
Becker is the author of 15 books, including the widely used booklet, Missio Dei No. 18: “What is an Anabaptist Christian?” (available in 18 languages), and an expansion of that resource called Anabaptist Essentials, Ten Signs of a Unique Christian Faith (Herald, 2017). Since 2007, he has taught short courses on the subject of Anabaptist identity in more than 15 countries worldwide with Mennonite Mission Network and Mennonite Church Canada Witness. Becker is also the recipient of AMBS’s 2018 Alumni Ministry and Service Recognition.
The commencement service will be live streamed at goshen.edu/live-stream. A reception for graduates and guests will take place after the service in the Church Fellowship Hall.
